2018 Triennial Convention – Brother John Norton

Dear Brothers,

After attending our Triennial Convention this past Thursday thru Saturday, I am greatly encouraged with the course and direction that our board and leaders are attempting to steer us in as an entire Brotherhood. I am impressed! The vision and mission are clearly stated.  The leadership is in place and working hard to accomplish well laid out goals for the next 3 years. We can be proud of both our history and of the dedicated efforts of our leadership to help us establish our presence as a vibrant Christian men’s fellowship at the chapter, assembly and national level. I am honored to have met many dedicated and sincere Christian men. I will tell you more in follow-up messages and a summary at our next officers meeting.

You all have perhaps received the attachment from our executive director, Tom Welch, which is his personal address to our body on Friday. It was an impressive and impassioned delivery. We have the right man in place for that job which I understand is the 1st time we have had that important job filled for a long time, maybe ever. It is long (17 pages) but well worth the reading. I had several conversations with Tom and am thoroughly impressed by his commitment to the welfare, improvement, and advancement of our brotherhood at both the national and local levels.

One key to our work in our assembly is having an active diocesan coordinator, something that I have not fully appreciated but has become clearer to me in attending this convention. We greatly miss our brother Robbie Gerber and our Brother Jim Cox’s health demands that he give all his energy to healing. Our prayers are with him. It is paramount that we are able to find a diocesan coordinator soon because I now realize how important that job is to the success of our chapters and our assembly. I am asking all of you to help me with this search. You know your chapters and others better that I do. Would each of you would reach out to prospects and find candidates that we could put forth to Bishop Sumner soon.

We will go forth as men working for the coming Kingdom of God.

Cordially, your brother,

John Norton
