Andy (St. Andrew) Graduates From Patriot Paws
An update from Brother Don Candy – Diocesan Coordinator…
Brothers,
Friday April 18, 2014, Jim Vineyard (Assembly VP in Charge of Service), Sam Ricks and I attended a graduation ceremony at the Patriot PAWS main facility in Rockwall. This is an amazing event to see. Of particular interest for us was the graduation of St. Andrew (nicknamed Andy), a black lab puppy sponsored by us at our first Patriot PAWS golf tournament, now a two year old full grown Service Dog ready to make his new owner’s life a little easier and simpler.
His new owner, shown in the attached pictures, is Chad Boudreaux, a veteran of the war in Iraq. Chad had seven fractured vertebrae and a traumatic head injury in combat and spent many long months and many surgeries recovering. He has only partial use of his right arm and difficulty speaking but he has a great sense of humor and he’s sharp as a tack. I feel honored just knowing him. And, I feel really good that the Brotherhood’s namesake service dog is in the hands of a hero like Chad.
If you haven’t been tracking our relationship with PatriotPAWS, please check out their website: http://patriotpaws.org/ and the articles on our website: https://brothersandrewdallas.org/ . Last year we raised $19,700.00 for this most worthy program. This year our goal is $27,000.
Please do whatever you can to support this program and our golf tournament supporting it.
Thanks and God’s blessings to all,
Don
