Holy Trinity by the Lake Recommends “How to Disciple Men” as Study Reference

“…most Christians know why men need Jesus.  The problem is “how? How do we get men to take the next step toward wholeness?  How do we deal with the frustrations and challenges that always seem to crop up?”   (From the Editors’ Forward to How to Disciple Men (Short and Sweet)” – Patrick Morley, Jay Payleitner and David Murrow.” (amazon.com/How-Disciple-Men-Short-sweet/dp/1424554985; Kindle $7.99; Paperback Prime $11.12; 15 Used from $5.01.

Our Chapter first learned of the paperback How to Disciple Men at a Regional Brotherhood of St. Andrew meeting in Dallas, TX featuring guest speaker Brotherhood President, Jeff Butcher.  The paperback book contains 45 short, to-the-point articles written by nationally recognized men’s ministry leaders…including Jeff.

Many of us feel unprepared and uncertain as to HOW to successfully carry out the Brotherhood mission of “bring(ing) Christ to men and youth.”  The 45 How to Disciple Men articles are providing our Chapter insights.  As promised by the Editors, we’ve found many articles packed with tangible tips on how to better understand men, and adopt/adapt proven strategies to help our Chapter draw them to Christ.

At our Chapter’s monthly Saturday breakfast meetings volunteer Brothers lead a 15-20 minute discussion on the article(s) for which they have accepted responsibility.  Other Brothers have already read the same articles in preparation.   Informative, clarifying discussions of the article(s) always ensue, and sometimes even Brothers’ personal testimony is revealed providing the additional opportunity to know them more intimately.

Ten (10) sample titles of the 45 articles include:  “Keys to Disciplining Every Man in Your Church,” “Ten Secrets to a Great Men’s Night,” “How to Listen to Men,” “Small Groups: Helping Dads Decode their Daughters,” “Ministering to Men in Addiction,” “The Lifeblood of Ministries to Men,” ”Overcoming Racial and Cultural Barriers to Disciple Men,” “Ministering to Millennials, Young Men, and the Next Generation,” and ”Your First Ministry is to Your Family.”

Not all 45 articles may be of interest or helpful to a particular Chapter, but if you are looking for some HOW strategies to help tailor your Chapter’s approach to ministering to men How to Disciple Men might help.
