In the wake of the recent tornadoes, Holy Trinity, Garland will host 15 students from Minnesota State University, Mankato, coming down on their spring break to work on Habitat projects in Garland from 6-12 March.  They will sleep on cots in the parish hall and have meals prepared by chapters of the Brotherhood of St Andrew and the ladies of Holy Trinity’s “Mary-Martha’s”.  The congregation will join them on Wednesday night, March 9th, for a special parish Potluck Supper to thank them for all they are doing for our community.

Bishop Lambert mentioned that as churches are looking for ways to serve in the wake of the recent storms, we might share the responsibility for feeding the team with other churches in the Diocese. This morning it was suggested at our Brotherhood meeting that this would be an appropriate service project for the Dallas Assembly of the Brotherhood of St Andrew.

So here is the deal: We are asking different parish chapters of the Dallas Assembly of the Brotherhood of St Andrew to raise their hand to be responsible for ONE DAY to feed around 20 students:
o a hearty breakfast,
o send them off with a sack lunch and…
o serve them a hot dinner when they return.

Holy Trinity Garland has a “manly kitchen” available for you to use. We need chapters to sign up for responsibility for the following days:

Sun, 6 March St. Andrew’s Farmers Branch will feed them supper
Mon, 7 March Epiphany-Richardson will feed them
Tue, 8 March OPEN for breakfast
Wed, 9 March Holy Trinity, Garland will feed them
Thu, 10 March OPEN for breakfast
Fri, 11 March Holy Trinity by the Lake (Heath) will feed them
Sat, 12 March Holy Trinity, Garland will feed them breakfast

Please contact Fr. JD (jdb@holytrinitygarland.org) with the day you’d like to be responsible for. We’ll let you know actual numbers and times as their planning gets more mature. This post will be updated with available slots as they are taken.
