Southwest Showdown Barbecue Competition - Austin TX

Southwest Showdown Barbecue Competition

A note from Perry Mullins, a candidate for holy orders from the Dallas Diocese and Holy Nativity:

My name is Perry Mullins, and I’m a candidate for holy orders from the Diocese of Dallas. My sponsoring parish is Holy Nativity in Plano, and growing up there I saw how active the Brotherhood group was.

I am currently studying at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, and we have an event every year that I am helping organize that I think the brotherhood groups in Dallas may be interested in. On Saturday, February 22nd, we will host the second annual Southwest Showdown Barbecue Competition, benefitting Episcopal Relief and Development. Last year we had thirteen teams compete and hundreds of guests attend. We have some great teams signed up already this year from all over the country, and I would really love to see a team from my home diocese compete!

Southwest Showdown Charity BBQI was hoping that one or more of the brotherhood groups might want to assemble a team of barbecu’ers to come down for the competition. Our website is www.SouthwestShowdown.com, and I’ve attached a flyer. Accommodations are available at the seminary overnight if necessary. If you need any more info, please don’t hesitate to ask! And please also let me know whether or not you think a Dallas team might be a possibility.

I hope to see y’all then, and keep up the good ministry!

In Christ,

Perry

Apparently, local Brotherhood chapters participate in what appears to be a great charitable event. Should your chapter have an interest, please visit the website for entry details.
