Steve Orthwein - Brotherhood of St. Andrew - Dallas Assembly

Brother Steve Orthwein Passes

It is with great sadness that we received the word of Brother Steve Orthwein’s passing on Friday December 13, 2013.

Brother Steve was a longtime and faithful member of the Redeemer Irving Brotherhood of St. Andrew Chapter and served as Secretary to the Dallas Assembly for the last two years. His respect for the Brotherhood of St. Andrew was always present in the copious notes he took of each meeting for broadcast to the full Assembly.

Steve was a welcome site at our Assembly meetings and always showed incredible courage and perseverance throughout his disabilities and illness. He always had a smile and interest in everyone around him. Steve never missed a meeting unless it was for some other Church or Community involvement that he usually was coordinating or heading up. His interests and service spanned the full gamut of what a true Christian Activist represents and there will be many gaps to be filled with Steve’s departure.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Steve will be held Monday, December 23rd @ 5:00PM at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Irving TX. A Reception and Celebration of Steve’s life will be immediately following.

Steve’s Facebook page – on which he was quite active – can be reached here. You can witness Steve’s impact on an incredible circle of friends in the tributes to him.

The Dallas Assembly has lost a true Brother in the fullest definition for which The Brotherhood of St. Andrew stands.

We will sorely miss his presence in our lives and in our Brotherhood.

“Grant to him eternal rest. May light perpetual surround him.”
