Brotherhood of St. Andrew - Dallas Assembly

2013 Brotherhood of St. Andrew Dallas Annual Assembly Meeting

The 2013 Annual Dallas Assembly Meeting was held on November 30, 2013 – St. Andrew’s Day – at Irving Redeemer Episcopal Church in Irving TX. In spite of the Thanksgiving Weekend, we had a good attendance. All were impressed with the new Assembly Hall at Redeemer.

After a great breakfast by the Redeemer Brotherhood Chapter, a Eucharist was held in the Redeemer Sanctuary by our Assembly Chaplain, Fr. J.D. Brown. An excellent sermon by Fr. Craig Reed of St. Andrew’s Church focused on what we should learn about being followers of Christ worthy of the life and sacrifices of St. Andrew. Fr. Reed brought into focus the life of St. Andrew, his death and the history of how his bones became sacraments in the Scottish church and Scotland history.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew - Dallas AssemblyAfter our service, Fr. Brown led the Assembly in special prayer for Brother Steve Orthwein, our outgoing Secretary who is fighting significant health issues.

Fr. Brown gave an outstanding perspective of Battles of the Bible, covering the history of how the Jews conquered the promised land and the battle strategies used.

President John Curtis opened our business meeting including election of new officers. Jim Cox of St. Andrew’s was elected as President Coadjutor, Bruce Hinchey of Epiphany was elected as Secretary, and Mike Model was asked to serve and accepted the position of consulting member of the Assembly Board replacing Jon Browne who is retiring from the Board. Presentations about chapter activities were given by each chapter.

Our next Assembly meeting is set for March 1, 2014 at a location to be determined.
